Overview
There are many ways to navigate data from dataset tables in Navigator, metada popups, and job history
Below are steps on how to navigate data in a variety of ways
How to Navigate Dataset tables
Using the Navigation Bar is the best way to navigate tables
1. Use Filter by ID to filter datasets
2. Single left click on dataset to expand tables
a. Datasets with faded text indicate user does not have access
b. Table listing is paged (currently by 2,000 items). Datasets containing more than 2,000 items will display Show More. Clicking on Show More will display the next page of tables. Hovering over Show More will display Show More Popup. Show More Popup contains counts for the total number of tables in dataset, the number of tables displayed under the Dataset, and how many tables are below or above the currently displayed list.
3. Hover over a table to obtain a popup with meta data
4. Single left click on a table to expand and view table’s columns
a. Column name is available along with color coded data type
5. Single left click again to collapse an expanded column, table, or dataset
6. Double left click a table or column to insert into query of Normal, Enhanced, or GoBQ modes
7. Sort tables by metadata options by selecting sort and direction options
How to Navigate Dataset metadata
Datasets can be identified by creation time, modified time, location, default expiration time, labels, and owners
1. Hover over a dataset in Nav to see popup metadata information. Table Metadata that is still loading will display a loading icon and number processed out of total.
2. Dataset metadata can also be viewed via the Project Browser
3. Open the Project Brower by
a. Single left-click on project name in Nav
b. Right click on project name in Nav and select Browse from the menu options
4. In Project Browser datasets can be filtered by typing in Filter datasets
5. Single left click on column header to sort by that column
a. Single left click again to switch sort order
6. Right click on dataset to access Dataset Context Menu
How to Navigate Table metadata
Tables can be identified by size, rows, long-term size, creation time, last modified, and data location
- Hover over a table in Nav to see popup metadata information
2. Table metadata can also be viewed via the Dataset Browser
3. Open the Dataset Brower by
a. Double left-click on dataset in Nav
b. Right click on dataset in Nav and select Browse from the menu options
4. In Dataset Browser tables can be filtered by typing in Filter tables
5. Single left click on column header to sort by that column
a. Single left click again to switch sort order
6. Right click on table to access Table Context Menu
7. Dataset Browser is paged if the number of tables exceeds display area. Page options include First which displays the first page of data, Prev which navigates to the previous page, Next which pages to the next page, and Last which displays the last page.. Counts between the navigation options display the rows being displayed on the page out of the total number of rows.
How to Navigate Previously Run queries
Jobs History displays previously run queries and jobs
- View Jobs History by
- Right click on billing project name in Nav for context menu
- Click Jobs History from context menu items
If the project displayed in the navigator is available to user as a billing project then the jobs list opens the project in the navigator. Otherwise the jobs list opens the project that is specified as the default billing project (found under User Settings)
2. A table with when, what type, job status, duration, cost, tier, info and query will display
3. Sort by clicking on any table column header expect Job Info or Query
4. Double click on any row to bring up JSON view
5. In JSON viewer Job Info is displayed in JSON format, navigation options are available in upper right, and action item buttons are available depending on job type
6. Right click on any row to bring up context menu action items for that row
7. Right click on the Recent Jobs Browser header to switch project job listings. Only projects that user has billing permissions to is listed. Select refresh to refresh the current project’s job list.
