How to execute a Magnus Workflow for a user upon request?
The probability of you receiving such a request is almost zero. This is because a workflow can be executed manually by its owner or delegates. So as long as the owner or delegates can access Magnus, they can execute the workflow manually themselves.
In the circumstance when both owner and delegates cannot get to Magnus, and the workflow is so extremely critical that it has to be executed now, you can follow the steps below to execute the workflow for the user.
To execute a workflow for a user:
- If the workflow is not owned by you, nor delegated to you, then you need to first enable Advanced Admin.
- Click on [Workflows] to open the Workflows Browser.
- Type the workflow Id in the Content textbox.
- Select “All Workflows” in the dropdown.
- Click on the workflow Id to open up the Workflow Editor.
- Determine if the workflow is locked to always run as the workflow owner:
- If you see a closed lock icon, that means the workflow is already locked to always run as the workflow owner.
-
In this case, you can click Run to execute this workflow manually. It will be executed as the workflow owner.
- You are done.
-
- If you see an open lock icon, that means the workflow is not yet locked to always run as the workflow owner.
- In this case, click on the icon until it shows a closed lock.
- Click Save.
- Click Run.
- Now you see a popup message indicating that the workflow is running.
- Click the x icon to close that message.
-
Now you need to revert the change you just made to the workflow. You can revert the change now, you do not need to wait for the workflow to complete.
- Click on the lock icon until the lock is opened.
- Click Save.
- You are done.
- In this case, click on the icon until it shows a closed lock.
- If you see a closed lock icon, that means the workflow is already locked to always run as the workflow owner.
